Biography: Son of Robert MacPherson; born Newton-on-Ayr, 11 March 1880. M.A., 1900; B.D., 1904; Hunter, Gladstone Memorial, Prizes. U Company, 1st Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders, 1896 (formerly in 3rd Volunteer Battalion. Seaforth Highlanders). Served with 78th Seaforth Highlanders, South African War. Junior Chaplain, Bengal Establishment, 6 July 1910. Mobilized, August 1914. Served-Egypt, France, Mesopotamia. Final rank, Junior Chaplain. Order of the British Empire June 1919.
