Biography: Son of Alexander MacLean; born Kiltearn, Ross-shire, 29 August 1849. M.A., 1868; M.B. [Hon. dist), 1871. Assistant-Surgeon, Royal Navy, 1872; returned 1906. Employed, Medical Transport Work, 4 August 1914-4 September 1917. Final rank, Surgeon-Rear-Admiral. Companion of the order of the Bath, 1917.
