Biography: Son of John MacKay; born Harris, 18 March 1898. Medicine, 1919-. Joined Royal Navy Reserve (Trawler Section, mine-sweeping), 17 November 1916. Escort duty and general service, North Sea, 1916-19. Final rank, Able Seaman, Royal Naval Reserve.
