Private, R.A.M.C., 1st Scottish General Hospital, 8 August 1914; commissioned, 11th Gordon Highlanders, 7 January 1915; attached 1st, 3rd, 8/10th, 5th, Gordon Highlanders; 2nd London Scottish. Served-Home, 1914-16, 1917, 1919, France, September-November 1916, April 1917-June 1918; Germany, March 1919. Final rank, Captain.
