Biography: Born Strachan, Banchory, 14 May 1886. M.A., 1911; B.Sc. (Agr.), 1911. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1910-12. Re-enlisted. Commissioned, 4th Cameron Highlanders, 29 January 1915. Served-Home, 1915, 1915-16, 1918; France, June-September 1915; September 1916-August 1917. Three times wounded. Final rank, Acting Captain. Distinguished Service Order, September 1917. Mentioned in despatches, January 1918.
