Biography: Son of John Syme; born Inverarity, Forfarshire, 11 June 1891. B.Sc. (Agr.), 1919. Private, 3rd Scottish Horse, 8 August 1914; attached to 13th Black Watch. Served-Home, 1914-15; Gallipoli, Egypt, Macedonia, France, August 1915-February 1919. Final rank, Private.
