Biography: Son of Charles Swaine; born Tirhoot, Bengal, 23 July 1852. M.B., 1874; M.D., 1889; Diploma in Public Health, 1896. Lieutenant in the Indian Medical Services, 1876; retired Lieutenant-Colonel. War work-Under War Office, Medical Examiner of Recruits, 1914-16; President, Medicine Recruiting Board, Woolwich (first to be started in the United Kingdom), 1916-17. Ministry of National Service, Deputy Commissioner of Medical Services, Woolwich Recruiting Area, 1917-19.
