Biography: Son of John K. Sutherland; born Burray, 3 February 1884. M.A., 1909; B.Sc. (Spec. dist.), 1911 ; D.Sc., 1916. Private, 28th London Regiment (Artists' Rifles Officer Training Corps), 15 November 1915. Commissioned, Royal Garrison Artillery, 20 November 1916. Served-Home, 1915-17; Mesopotamia, 1917-January 1919. Final rank, Acting Captain.
