Biography: Son of Peter Stronach; born Aberdeen, 21 January 1891. M.A., 1913. Private, 2/7th Gordon Highlanders, 18 January 1915; 1st Gordon Highlanders, 5th Highland Light Infantry. Commissioned, 3rd Gordon Highlanders, 28 August 1918; attached to 5th Gordon Highlanders, 2/14th London Scottish. Served-Home, 1915-16, 1918, 1919; France, Belgium, July 1916-December 1917, October 1918-February 1919; Rhineland, March-August 1919. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
