Biography: Son of John B. Strachan; born Fraserburgh, 12 August 1889. M.A., 1910. U Company, 1st Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders. Private, 2/4th Gordon Highlanders, December 1914. Commissioned, 1st Kings Own Scottish Borderers, 10 April 1915. Served-Home, 1914-15, 1916-19; Gallipoli, Egypt, Palestine, October 1915-May 1916. Final rank, Captain.
