Biography: Son of James Strachan; born Portlethen, 3 August 1898. Medicine, 1916, 1918-. A.U.O.T.C., 1916-17. Cadet, No. 2 O.C.B., 5 May 1917. Commissioned, 4th Gordon Highland, 28 August 1917; attached to 3rd, 52nd, Gordon Highlanders, Served-Home, 18 months; abroad, 3 months. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
