Biography: Son of James S. Stewart; born Aberdeen, 25 August 1894. Medicine, 1913-14. A.U.O.T.C. Private, 2/4th Gordon Highlanders, 17 November 1914. Served with 10th, 11th, Gordon Highlanders; commissioned, 3 March 1915. Home, 1914-15; France, October 1915-October 1917; United States (instructing American troops), November 1917-November 1918. Final rank, Captain. Military Cross.
