Biography: Son of James Stephen; born Inverallochy, 7 December 1888. M.A. (Ill Math.), 1912. Private, 6th Gordon Highlanders, November 1915. Commissioned, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1 March 1917. Served-Home, 1915-17; France, August 1917-March 1918. Wounded, 22 March 1918; Prisoner of War, March - December 1918. Final rank, Lieutenant.
