Biography: Son of John Smith; born Aberdeen, 9 April 1880. M.A. (Ill Classics), 1901; M.B., 1910; Lizars Medal; Thompson Fellow. Captain (a la suite), R.A.M.C, 15 August 1914 ; attached 1st Scottish General Hospital, 43rd and 50th General Hospitals, 31st Casualty Clearing Station, Military Hospital, Ripon. Served- Home, 1914-16, March - July 1919; Salonika, August 1916-February 1919. Final rank, Acting Major.
