Biography: Son of Alexander Smart; born Fraserburgh, 5 March 1898. Medicine 1916. A.U.O.T.C. Private, 53rd (Young Soldier), Gordon Highlanders, 30 May 1916; 8th O.C.B. (Lichfield). Commissioned, February 1919. Served-Home, 1916-19. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
