Biography: Son of David Slater; born Lossiemouth, 4 October 1889. M.A., 1912; B.Sc. (Spec. dist.), 1913; Arnott Prize. Commissioned, Naval Instructor, Royal Australian Navy, 1 February 1916. Served in R.A.N. College, Jervis Bay, 1916-. Final rank, Instructor Lieutenant.
