Biography: Son of H. F. Morland Simpson; born Aberdeen, 2 August 1896. M.A. (I History),1919; Caithness Prize; Forbes Gold Medal. Joined 4th Gordon Highlanders (T.F.), 1913. Discharged, medically unfit, August 1914. Organization and control of Sea-scouts employed in coast-watching throughout Scotland; other Admiralty work, August 1915-January 1918. Secretarial work, Ministry of National Service, 1918-19.
