Biography: Son of James Simpson; born Tullynessle, Aberdeenshire, 17 March 1877. M.B., 1900; Diploma in Public Health, 1903. Lieutenant, R.A.M.C. (T.), 1910; attached to 1/2nd Scottish Horse. Served-Home, 1914-15; Gallipoli, August - December 1915; Egypt, Sinai, December 1915 - September 1916. Invalided; discharged, March 1917. Final rank, Captain.
