Biography: Son of Alexander Simpson; born Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, 2 February 1881. M.A. (I Classics), 1901; Kay, Simpson, Prizes; Town Council Gold Medal. Private, I.D.F., September 1915. Commissioned, 105th Indian Lab. Corps, August 1918. Served-India, Waziristan. Final rank, Lieutenant.
