Biography: Son of Alexander J. Sherriffs; born Aberdeen, 7 March 1881. M.A., 1903; B.Sc, 1911 ; D.Sc., 1919. War work-Special Constable, 1914. Joined Madras Volunteer Artillery Corps, 26 October 1915. Indian Defence Force, August 1917-May 1919. Served-Madras City. Final rank, Sapper.
