Biography: Son of Charles I. Shearer; born Banff, 2 February 1891. M.A., 1912; M.B., 1917. Private, "U" Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1913. Mobilized, August 1914. Commissioned, 6th Black Watch, October 1914; transferred to R.A.M.C. (after finishing medical studies), 1917. Served-Home, France, 1914-January 1916; India, Arabia, Egypt, 1917-. Final rank, Acting Major.
