Biography: Son of G.J.Shand; born Sialkot, Punjab, 20 January 1884. M.B., 1909; M.D), (com.), 1914; Diploma of Public Health (London),1918. Private, R.A.M.C. (V. and T.), 1900-10. Lieutenant R.A.M.C (S.R.), 1910. Mobilized, 5 August 1914. Attached No. 6 Casualty Clearing Station, 1st Somerset Light Infantry, 10th Field Ambulance, 2/1st Highland Field Ambulance, etc. Served-France, Belgium, August 1914-May 1917; invalided; Home, Bacteriologist, R.A.M. College, Hampstead Military Hospital; Neurologist, Maudsley Hospital, London, 1917-19. Final rank, Captain.
