Biography: Son of Robert Scarth; born Firth, Orkney, 24 July 1894. Science 1912-14. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1911. Mobilized, August 1914. Commissioned, 21 July 1919. Served-Home, 1914-15, 1916-19; Belgium, France, February 1915-October 1916. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
