Biography: Son of Alexander R. Welsh; born Bedford, Cape Colony, 23 January 1868. M.B., 1891. Member of Defence Force, South Africa. Major, South African Medical Corps, attached to P.M.O., Hlubi Expeditionary Force, 1914-15; Officer in command of Medical Division, No. 4 Gen. Hospital, Pretoria, 1916-17. Final rank, Lieutenant-Colonel.
