Biography: Son of William Weir; born Insch, 24 November 1889. M.A., 1911; B.Sc. (Agr.), 1913. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders (T.F.), 30 November 1915. Commissioned, 25 January 1917; attached to 4th (Reserve) Battalion, 6th, 6/7th, Gordon Highlanders Served-Home, 1915-17, 1917-18; France, June-September 1917, June 1918-April 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant. Military Cross, February 1919. Bar to Military Cross, March 1919.
