Biography: Son of William L. Millar, inspector of works; born Madras, 30 October 1880; educated Milne's Institution, Fochabers, and Aberdeen Grammar School ; entered the University in 1899, graduated M.A., 1902 ; M.B., 1906 ; M.D. (com.), 1918, and gained the Straits Settlement Gold Medal for the best thesis on a subject dealing with tropical medicine. He was in practice at Arbroath for a year and then settled in Forres, where his enthusiasm for his profession and his genial, kindly spirit made him justly popular. Millar received his commission in the R.A.M.C. in 1916, and was sent to Salonika where he served from August 1916 till August 1918, carrying on research work in malaria. Afterwards he was posted for duty to a Military Hospital at Dieppe, where he died from influenzal pneumonia, 23 October 1918.
