Biography: Born Foveran, Aberdeenshire, 26 September 1868. M.A., 1891. Joined Gordon Highlanders, 1898; commissioned, 1904. Mobilized, August 1914. Seconded for service with Labour Corps. Served-Home, 1914-15, 1915-16; France, April-June 1915, May 1916-March 1919. Final rank, Major.
