Biography: Son of William Scroggie, shipmaster ; born Aberdeen, 14 June 1898 ; student in Medicine, 1916-17. Scroggie joined the 3rd Gordons as a Private in April 1917, and in June of that year transferred to the R.F.C. After going through a cadet course at Oxford and Reading, he was gazetted 2nd Lieutenant in September 1917 and was attached to the 213th Squadron, serving in France. On 25 September 1918 Scroggie was brought down while taking part in an aerial battle over Bruges. He was later reported a prisoner of war, but nothing further has been heard of him and it is presumed that he was killed on that date.
