Porter, Sir James
Biography: Son of James Porter; born Monymusk, 5 December 1851. M.A., 1874; M.B., 1877; M.D., 1901. Corporal, 1st A.R.V. (later 1/4th Gordon Highlanders), 1869-77. Commissioned, Royal Navy, 1877. Surgeon-Vice-Admiral, 1908-13. Retired. Mobilized as Principal Naval Medical Transport Officer, August 1914. Served-U.K., 1914-17; Mediterranean, Dardanelles (Army and Navy), June-December 1915. Commander, Medical Services under Ministry of National Service, 1917-19. C.B., 1902. K.C.B., 1910. K.C.M.G., January 1916.
