Biography: Son of William Pirie; born Aberdeen, 8 January 1897. M.A., 1920. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 31 January 1916. Served with 3rd Black Watch. Home, 1916; France, March 1916-March 1918; Prisoner of War, 22 March-November 1918. Final rank, Lance Corporal.
