Biography: Son of John Philip; born Newhills, Aberdeenshire, 31 January 1893. M.B., 1921. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders (Territorial Force), 1910. Mobilized, August 1914. Served with 1st Highland Field Ambulance, Army Service Corps, 1st Battalion The Rifle Brigade. Commissioned, April 1917. U.K., 1914-15, 1916-17; Egypt, Gallipoli, April-November 1915; France, May-October 1917. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
