Biography: Son of James S. Paterson; born Rathven, Banffshire, 25 October 1879. M.A. (III Class), 1901. Private, 6th Gordon Highlanders, April 1915; commissioned, September 1915; attached to 5th, 4th, Gordon Highlanders; 6th Seaforth Highlanders. Served-Home, 1915, 1916-18, 1918; France, October 1915-September 1916; April-October 1918. Final rank, Acting Captain.
