Sénèque, Eugène Prosper

Biography: Son of Jean Joseph Sénèque, engineer ; born Mauritius, 7 September 1884 ; matriculated, 1912 ; student in Medicine, 1912-14. When war broke out Sénèque was a third year student, and instead of continuing his medical studies he enlisted, October 1914, in the Hampshire Regiment, serving first with the 11th and later with the 1st Battalion. All his active service was in France, where he served continuously from 1914 onwards, except for one short period in hospital. On 28 March 1918 he was hit by a bomb and killed instantaneously. His C.O. wrote : "I hear specially good accounts of his behaviour during the attack. He displayed great coolness, and would probably have had his name forwarded for a decoration had he come through."
