Biography: Son of James Rose; born Aberdeen, 6 November 1895. Science 1913-14. Joined 4th Gordon Highlanders. (Grammar School Company), 1911. Mobilized, August 1914. Transferred Royal Engineers (Signal Company). Commissioned, 2 July 1916. Served-Home, 1914-15, 1916, 1917-18; France, April 1915-January 1916, September 1916-September 1917, May 1918-February 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant. Belgian Croix de Guerre, January 1919.
