Biography: Born Edinburgh, 17 March 1867. D.P.H. (with credit), 1911; M.B., CM. (Ed.), 1890; M.D., 1908. Commissioned, R.A.M.C. (V.), Black Watch Bearer Company, 1903; Lieutenant, Aberdeen Company, R.A.M.C. (V. later T.F.). Mobilized Captain, August 1914. Attached to 1st, 2nd, 1/2nd Highland Field Ambulances; Highland Clearing Hospital; Assistant Director of Medical Services, 51st (Highland) Division. Served-Home, 1 year; France, Belgium, 3 years 7 months. Final rank, Acting Colonel. Distinguished Service Order, 1917; Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel, December 1918; Chevalier de la legion d'honneur, December 1918. Two mentions in despatches, February 1917, November 1918.
