Biography: Son of Robert Ritchie; born Glasgow, 26 July 1882. M.B., 1904. U Company, Royal Army Medical Corps (Volunteer), 1900 -05. Commissioned, R.A.M.C., July 1905. Mobilized, 4 August 1914. Resident Medical Officer, 4th Division; Deputy Assistant Director Medical Services 3rd Army Corps; appointed to Staff, General Head Quarters Served-France, August 1914-19. Final rank, Major. Distinguished Service Order. Five mentions in despatches.
