Biography: Son of Walter A: Reid; born Aberdeen, 16 December 1889. M.A., 1909. Enlisted, U Company, Gordon Highlanders, 1907. Commissioned, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 1909. Mobilized, 4 August 1914; attached 8/10th Gordon Highlanders Served-Home, 1914-15; France, Belgium, 1915-18. Severely wounded. Final rank, Acting Lieutenant-Colonel. Distinguished Service Order (Immediate award), September 1918. Three mentions in despatches 1917, April, November, 1918.
