Biography: Son of John Raffen; born Aberdeen, 28 August 1885. M.B., 1906; M.D., 1909; Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh Lieutenant Royal Army Medical Corps, October 1915; attached 39th Casualty Clearing Station, 80th General Hospital. Served-Gallipoli, Egypt, France, Salonika. Final rank, Captain.
