Biography: Son of Charles Niven; born Peterhead, 12 March 1851. M.A. (II Math.), 1870; Boxill Prize; B.A. (8th Wrangler), Cantab, 1874; M.A., 1877; M.B., 1880; Ch.B., 1889. Joined Royal Army Medical Corps, 1908. Mobilized, August 1914. Attached to 2nd General Western Hospital; Medical Officer of Health, Manchester. Home service, 1914-19. Final rank, Major, R.A.M.C. a la suite.
