Biography: Son of Alexander C. Nicol; born Countesswells, 26 March 1897. Science, 1915-16. Pioneer, Special Brigade, Royal Engineers, February 1916; attached to D Special Company; commissioned M Special Company, 31 January 1918. Served - France, April 1916-September 1917, May 1918-September 1919; Home, 1917-18. Final rank, Lieutenant.
