Biography: Son of Stephen H. L. Neate; born Kirkwall, 8 April 1890. M.A. (III Math.), 1914. Private, U Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 4 October 1914. Commissioned, 9th Royal Scots Fusiliers, 13 November 1914. Served - Home, 1914-15; Gallipoli, August-December 1915; invalided; France, Belgium, February 1918-February 1919; Army of the Rhine, February-September 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant.
