Biography: Son of James W. H. Trail ; born Aberdeen, 13 November 1885. Arts, 1901-03. Commissioned, 57th Wildes Rifles (Frontier Force) Indian Army, 1905. Mobilized, August 1914. Served-France, Belgium, 1914-16; (torpedoed and sunk in Mediterranean, 1916, when returning to duty in India). India, 1917-. Final rank, Major. Military Cross. Brevet Majority. Three mentions, June 1915, June 1916, and June 1919.
