Biography: Son of Richard R. Trail ; born Aberdeen, 25 May 1894. M.A. (II Eng.), 1919. Edinburgh University O.T.C. Gunner, Royal Garrison Artillery, 1915 ; commissioned, 6 January 1917. Served-Home, 3 years 5 months; France, 7 months. Final rank, Captain. Military Cross, August 1917.
