Biography: Son of James Thomson ; born Aberdeen, 14 December 1854. M.A., 1875. Private, Aberdeen City Volunteers. 1872. Acting Chaplain, 3rd (Volunteer) Highland Light Infantry, (later 7th H.L.I., Territorial Force), 1903-08. Commissioned, Chaplain, 1908. Mobilized, August 1914. Attached to 1st, 2nd, Scottish General Hospitals, 1914, 1915, 1916. Final rank, Major.
