Biography: Son of Alexander Thomson; born Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, 14 March 1881. B.Sc., 1904. Inns of Court O.T.C. Commissioned, Royal Engineers Tunnelling Corps, 26 May 1916. Served - Home, 1916; France, Belgium, July 1916-December 1918. Final rank, Captain.
