Biography: Son of John Robertson, carpenter, Aberlour ; born at Ballindalloch, Strathspey, 26 February, 1897; educated at Monymusk Public School and Aberlour Higher Grade School. He had an excellent school record, and entered the University as 10th Bursar in 1914, gaining a Greenskares Bursary. He gave promise of a distinguished career, gaining prizes in Greek, Latin and English in his one year at the University. Robertson enlisted at Aberdeen in October 1915 in the 3/1st Highland Field Artillery, passing later as 1st Class Signaller. He was killed in action in Belgium, following up an infantry attack, on 16 August 1917. "He did his duty", wrote his C.O., "without grumbling, no matter how hard or trying the task."

After confirmation received from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in 2015 altered to: Cement House Cemetery, V.B.22. Date of death recorded as 21st August 1917.

Burial Details: Buried at Brandhoek New Military Cemetery, Vlamertinghe, Plot 2, Row AA, Grave 6.
