Biography: Son of Isaac Newton, Captain, Indian Medical Service ; born Umballa, Punjab, 28 February 1889 ; graduated M. B., 1915. A noted athlete, he achieved the feat of gaining a triple blue in hockey, tennis and cricket. In hockey he achieved wider fame, being chosen to play for Scotland in international matches in 1912, 1913 and 1914. After graduating Newton at once joined the Army, receiving a commission in the R.A.M.C. on 1 August 1915. He served in Egypt and then in East Africa where he rose to the rank of Captain. He was killed in action at Nanyati, East Africa, on 5 August 1917.

Burial Details: Buried at Kilwa Kiwinji Cemetery, Tanganyika, Plot 4, Row C, Grave F.
