Simpson, John Watt

Regiment: 7th Battalion Border Regiment

Biography: Son of James Simpson, bank agent; born Portree, 10 November 1888 ; graduated M.A., 1909 ; LL.B., 1911 ; Hunter Prize. Early in September 1914, Simpson enlisted as a Private in the 8th Battalion Rifle Brigade, attained the rank of Corporal and was sent to France in May 1915, experiencing fierce fighting at Ypres, Hooge and Arras. In September 1916 he was commissioned to the 7th Border Regiment, and was accidentally killed by a bomb explosion at Amiens on 8 December 1916.

Burial Details: Buried at Vaux-en-Amienois Communal Cemetery, Row A, Grave 4.
