Biography: Son of James Gill; born Aberdeen, 4 August 1897. Science, 1914, 1919. Private, Army Veterinary Corps, 4 September 1915; 11/4th King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, 5th Gordon Highlanders; commissioned, 1 May 1917. Served- France, 2 ½ years; Home, 2 years. Final rank, Lieutenant. Croix de Guerre with Palms.
