Biography: Son of James Gilchrist; born Auchterless, 9 December 1883. M.A., 1904; M.B. (dist.), 1907; M.D.(com.), 1911; Lizars, Jas. Anderson Gold, Medals. Lieutenant, R.A.M.C., 14 April 1915; attached to Royal Flying Corps, R.A.F. Medical Service. Served-Home, 1915, 1919; Mudros and on ship, Alexandria, Egypt, June 1915-March 1919. Final rank, Captain R.A.F.M.S., O.B.E., January 1919. Two mentions in despatches, January, July, 1919.
